Africa Needs Action, Not Excessive Talk – Edith Dzigbordi Baku

ACCRA, Ghana — Ms. Edith Dzigbordi Baku, a Ghanaian advocate for development and leadership, has called on African leaders to move beyond rhetoric and translate their policies, promises and ideas into concrete actions capable of accelerating the continent’s development.

Baku made the call in a statement, lamenting that African leaders had, for too long, engaged in extensive discussions without delivering sufficient tangible results to improve the lives of their people.

“Speeches, promises, and social media posts will not build our continent, serious work will,” she stated.

According to her, Africa possesses virtually all the resources required to achieve meaningful transformation, including abundant natural resources, an educated population, talent, strength and innovative ideas.

She, however, said the continent continued to lag behind largely because of poor implementation.

“What is holding us back? We must stop talking and start producing,” Baku questioned.

She said Africa could achieve significant transformation within two to three years if its leaders and citizens embraced discipline, dedication and clearly defined goals, stressing the need for sustained commitment to productive work.

Baku said that from 2028, the continent’s development agenda should be centred on four straightforward priorities: work, produce, develop and deliver results.

“A true leader does not only speak, a true leader works, and the people see the results. Enough talk. It is time to work!” she stressed.

The development advocate urged African leaders and citizens to focus less on rhetoric and more on measurable outcomes, saying the continent’s future would depend on its ability to turn its considerable human and material resources into tangible development.
