Corrections Policy

Last updated: October 7, 2026

Frontline Africa is committed to accuracy, fairness and accountability. We correct factual errors when they are identified and verified, and we welcome readers, sources and affected people who bring possible errors to our attention.

What We Correct

We may correct errors involving facts such as names, dates, places, figures, quotations, titles, descriptions, links, images or the status of an event or legal proceeding.

We also review credible complaints about misleading headlines, missing context, inaccurate summaries, misidentified people, incorrect captions and information presented without an appropriate qualification.

What Is Not Normally a Correction

Not every disagreement with a story is an error. We may not classify the following as corrections:

  • Disagreement with a clearly identified opinion or analysis;
  • Disagreement with a newsworthy person’s statement that has been accurately attributed;
  • Requests to remove accurate information simply because it is inconvenient or unflattering;
  • Changes that do not affect the accuracy or understanding of the article; or
  • Complaints without enough information for us to check the claim.

We may still update or clarify an article where doing so would improve accuracy, fairness, context or reader understanding.

How to Request a Correction

Send your request to Frontlineafricainfo@gmail.com or contact us by phone/WhatsApp at +234 704 906 4483.

Please include:

  • The full URL of the article or page;
  • The specific sentence, image, headline or detail in question;
  • An explanation of why it is inaccurate or misleading;
  • The proposed correction; and
  • Supporting documents, records or links where available.

We may ask for additional information before making a decision. Sending a correction request does not guarantee that an article will be changed.

How We Review Requests

We review correction requests in good faith and assess the available evidence. We may contact the writer, editor, source or person affected by the report. We may also compare the information with official records, documents, direct statements or other credible sources.

For fast-moving stories, we may update an article while verification is continuing. Where information remains disputed, we may identify the dispute and present the relevant positions clearly rather than treating one side’s claim as an established fact.

Types of Corrections

Minor correction

A small factual, spelling, grammar, formatting, link or caption error that does not materially change the meaning of the article may be corrected without a prominent note.

Material correction

A significant factual error that affects the meaning, fairness or understanding of an article may be corrected in the body of the article and identified with a correction note where appropriate.

Clarification

Where wording is technically accurate but could reasonably be misunderstood, we may revise the wording or add context and identify the change as a clarification when appropriate.

Update

New information, a response from a relevant party or a later development may be added to an article with an update note. An update is not necessarily a correction.

Correction Notes

When a correction materially changes an article, we may add a note explaining what was changed and why. The original error will not normally be hidden when retaining it is necessary for transparency, legal compliance or an accurate record of the correction.

We may change headlines, remove material or take down a page in exceptional circumstances, including serious legal, privacy, safety, copyright or ethical concerns.

Corrections to Visual and Multimedia Material

We also review credible reports about incorrect photographs, captions, videos, graphics, audio, source credits or other multimedia. Where an error is confirmed, we may replace the material, correct the caption, add a note or remove the material where appropriate.

Right of Reply

A request to publish a response or clarification is not automatically a correction. We may consider a right-of-reply request where it is relevant, specific, fair and supported by credible information.

We may publish a response in the original article, as a follow-up report, or through another appropriate editorial format.

Complaints About Opinion or Commentary

Opinion pieces and commentary reflect the views of the writer or contributor. We may correct factual errors in those pieces, but disagreement with an honestly expressed opinion is not normally grounds for a correction.
