SALAGA (SAVANNAH) — The Member of Parliament (MP) for Salaga-South Constituency, Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has donated GH¢10,000 to T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, Salaga, to support the school’s participation in the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) National Championship in Accra.
The donation was presented on behalf of the MP by the Salaga-South NDC Constituency Chairman, Haruna Abdul Aziz, popularly known as Chairman Abotsi.
The intervention followed a request by the school for financial assistance to enable its contingent to participate in the prestigious national academic competition.
T.I. Ahmadiyya SHS, Salaga, earned its place at the 2026 NSMQ National Championship after emerging winner of the Savannah Region’s qualifying contest on Aug. 10.
The school secured the region’s only ticket after amassing 31 points, ahead of Bole Senior High School, which scored 26 points, while Salaga Senior High School placed third with four points.
Its latest qualification marks the school’s second consecutive appearance at the national championship.
In a message accompanying the donation, Hajia Ibrahimah congratulated the students, teachers and management of the school for their resilience, commitment and hard work in qualifying for the national contest for the second consecutive time.
She commended the school for making the Salaga-South Constituency proud and wished the team success as it represents the Savannah Region and the constituency on the national stage.
The MP reaffirmed her commitment to supporting education, which she described as one of her key priorities, and assured constituents that she would continue to support initiatives aimed at promoting quality education and creating better opportunities for young people in the municipality.
Her latest intervention is consistent with her previous education-related support in the constituency.
In April 2026, for instance, she supported 1,155 BECE candidates in the East Gonja Municipality with examination materials through the presentation of 1,200 mathematical sets and 24 boxes of pens. The items were also presented on her behalf by Abdul Aziz.
Speaking during the presentation of the GH¢10,000 support, Abdul Aziz said the donation reflected the MP’s continued commitment to education and youth development in Salaga-South.
He said the support would help ease the financial burden associated with the school’s participation in the national competition and enable the students to concentrate on their preparations.
Receiving the cheque on behalf of the Headmaster, the Assistant Headmaster in charge of Administration, Mr. Mohammed Amidu, expressed appreciation to the MP for the timely intervention.
The Assistant Headmaster pledged that the school would make the constituency proud by giving its best at the national championship.
The school’s qualification comes at a significant time, following its 55th anniversary celebrations in 2026.
The MP had earlier participated in the launch of the anniversary celebration and highlighted the importance of reliable electricity supply to improving academic performance at the school.
With its second successive qualification secured, T.I. Ahmadiyya SHS, Salaga, is expected to represent the Savannah Region at the 2026 NSMQ National Championship in Accra, with the support from the MP providing additional assistance toward the team’s participation.
