Enugu South 2026: Traders, Residents Endorse Ani’s Re-election Bid

Traders and residents of Ugwuaji Ward 10 in Enugu South Local Government Area have endorsed the re-election bid of the council chairman, Rt. Hon. Caleb Onyema Ani, ahead of the local government elections.

The endorsement was made when the campaign train of Ani, led by the Campaign Director and APC Chairman in Enugu South LGA, Hon. Freedom Nnam, visited Nkwo Ugwuaji Market and Ugwuaji Ward 10.

The campaign attracted a large crowd of traders, party faithful, youth groups and women leaders, who expressed support for the administration of Ani and the APC. Ugwuaji Ward 10 is the political ward of the Deputy Chairman of the council, Hon. Anthony Egbo, and the member representing Enugu North/South Federal Constituency, Hon. Sam Chimaobi Atu.

Nnam said the tour was to thank the people for their support and seek their continued support for Ani’s second-term bid, Gov. Peter Mbah, President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates.

He said the administration had redefined governance in Enugu South and deserved continuity.

“We are here to thank you and to ask for more. This market is the heartbeat of Enugu South. What this administration has done here speaks for itself, and we are confident that come Sept. 26, members of Nkwo Market will speak with one voice for APC,” Nnam said.

The Chairman of Nkwo Ugwuaji Market, Mr. Amechi Nwankwo, and other market stakeholders assured the campaign team of their loyalty and support.

Ani thanked the traders, residents and other stakeholders for the warm reception, while commending Mbah for what he described as significant development across Enugu State.

He said the state government’s interventions had brought infrastructural renewal, improved security and enhanced ease of doing business, adding that markets in Enugu South had also benefited from the administration’s development initiatives.

The Deputy Chairman, Egbo, described Mbah as a transformational governor and commended the synergy between the state and local governments, saying the cooperation had facilitated development at the grassroots.

The former council secretary, Hon. Smart Ogbodo, highlighted improvements in market security, roads, streetlights and the installation of surveillance cameras.

Ogbodo said the interventions had boosted commercial activities, extended business hours and improved the safety of traders and residents. He pledged 100 per cent support for Ani and the APC.
