The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has uploaded the modified logo of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, on its official website following a Federal High Court judgment.
The commission’s political parties register now displays the NDC logo as being recognised “by court order” and lists Sen. Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe as National Chairman and Barr. Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu as National Secretary.
The updated register also lists Mr. John Odey as National Treasurer, Hon. Mainasara Abubakar Sani as National Financial Secretary and Barr. Reuben Egwuaba as National Legal Adviser.
INEC marked the five leadership positions and the party logo as updated “by court order”, indicating that the changes were made pursuant to the judgment of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
The case, filed as Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1814/2026, was instituted by the NDC against INEC over the commission’s refusal to recognise and upload the party’s modified logo and colour design.
Justice J. O. Abdulmalik, who presided over the Abuja Judicial Division of the Federal High Court, delivered judgment in the case on Sept. 8, 2026, ruling in favour of the NDC.
The court held that INEC’s refusal to permit the NDC to modify and use its constitutionally approved logo, despite the party’s compliance with the requirements for the modification, was unconstitutional and amounted to an infringement of the party’s constitutional and statutory rights.
The court recognised the modified design as a digitally created two-finger victory sign on a blue background, with the acronym “NDC” written in red, which the party said was approved at its first National Executive Committee meeting.
The development effectively updates INEC’s official record of the NDC’s logo and national leadership, with the commission’s website now carrying the five officers and the modified logo under the “by court order” designation.
