Former Afram Plains North MP, Hon. Betty Krosbi Mensah, has declared her intention to contest the National Women Organiser position of Ghana’s National Democratic Congress (NDC).
She made her declaration ahead of the party’s National Executive elections scheduled for December 12, 2026.
Krosbi Mensah said the NDC needed a strong, dynamic and dedicated voice to lead and empower women across the party.
“Our party’s strength lies in the heart, resilience, and unity of our women,” she said.
She said the party needed effective leadership to promote inclusion and empowerment while organising women across its branches and constituencies in Ghana.
“We need a strong, dynamic, and dedicated voice to lead, organize, and empower women across every branch and constituency in Ghana,” she said.
According to her, her vision would focus on women’s economic empowerment, strengthening local branch organising and building a vibrant and inclusive women’s wing.
“Together, we will build a women’s wing that wins,” Krosbi Mensah added.
Krosbi Mensah served as MP for Afram Plains North from 2017 to 2025.
She is a gender advocate and development practitioner who previously served as Gender and Development Coordinator of the Ghana Cooperative Credit Union and Deputy Coordinator of the National Youth Employment Programme.
She also served as Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Sports and Recreation and Chairperson of the Black Queens B Management Committee.
Party watchers describe her as a grassroots organiser with extensive experience mobilising women in deprived and hard-to-reach communities.
During her parliamentary tenure, she represented more than 575 communities, including island communities on the Volta Lake.
Her campaign is expected to focus on training and resourcing branch and constituency women organisers, expanding economic empowerment programmes for women and promoting greater inclusion and recognition of women at all levels of the party.
