The MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) has commenced disconnection of customers who are yet to settle their electricity bills in Enugu State.
The company also urged customers who are yet to pay their September bills, covering electricity consumed in August, to settle their debts to avoid disconnection during the Independence Day public holiday.
The spokesman of MainPower, Mr Emeka Ezeh, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Enugu.
Ezeh said the disconnection exercise was part of the company’s revenue drive, adding that customers whose electricity supply was disconnected for non-payment would be required to pay the applicable reconnection fee before restoration.
“Customers whose electricity supply is disconnected for non-payment will be required to pay the applicable reconnection fee before supply can be restored,” he said.
He urged customers to make prompt payments, saying the company remained committed to providing improved and reliable electricity services.
“While MainPower continues to work towards providing improved and reliable electricity services to its customers, it urges all customers to promptly pay their electricity bills,” he said.
Ezeh said payments could be made at any MainPower cash office or through authorised collection agents and electronic platforms, including bank applications, Quickteller, E-Transact and BuyPower.
“MainPower solicits customers’ support in making prompt payment of their electricity bills to avoid service disruption,” he said, while appreciating their cooperation.
