ENUGU— The Managing Director, Enugu East Senatorial District Bus Terminal, High Chief John Egbo, has endorsed Gov. Peter Mbah for re-election in the 2027 Enugu State governorship election.
Egbo, also known as De Sheriff, gave the endorsement on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, at the ALGON Office, Enugu, during a one-day grand endorsement retreat organised by the Enugu State Progressive Erstwhile Ward Executives (PEWEX).
PEWEX is an association of former ward executives of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State from 1999 to date and is led by Ozo Ejike Okpe.
Speaking at the gathering shortly after receiving an Award of Sterling Performance and Excellent Leadership from PEWEX, Egbo commended what he described as the legacy projects of the Mbah administration and urged members of the association to take the message of the governor’s achievements to their respective wards.
Egbo said the construction of bus terminals was one of the initiatives for which Mbah’s administration deserved commendation.
“There is something about Peter Mbah’s administration. Gov. Peter Mbah initiated the idea and built Bus Terminal in Enugu State and Abia State Government emulated from him and built same,” he said.
He also cited the launch of Enugu Air as another initiative he said had influenced developments in other states.
“Same is applicable to the launch of Enugu Air, which Edo State Government followed the exemplary air infrastructure in their State,” Egbo said.
The bus terminal chief further attributed the establishment of the Command and Control Centre and the Centre for DNA Forensics and Criminal Investigation in Enugu to the Mbah administration.
“Gov. Peter Mbah was the very first Governor to build Command and Control Center in Nigeria; a security architecture, established to drive out crimes and criminality in Enugu State, which gave rise to its replication in other parts of sub-national Governments,” he said.
Egbo added that the administration had also established what he described as the first Centre for DNA Forensics and Criminal Investigation in Enugu to assist in tracking criminal activities.
“Gov. Peter Mbah has been acknowledged as the very first Governor to build a Centre for DNA Forensics and Criminal Investigation in Enugu to track criminality and nip it in the bud,” he said.
He therefore urged the group to support the governor’s return to office in 2027.
“We need to resolve, among other things, to re-elect an innovative and infrastructure-driven Gov. Mbah in 2027 general Election,” Egbo said.
The event was chaired by a former Secretary to the Enugu State Government and former Acting Governor, Dr Dan Shere.
Among those who attended were the Senior Political Adviser to the Governor, High Chief Frank Anioma; Chairman, Nsukka Local Government Area; Deputy Speaker, Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ugochukwu Ezeani; and the APC State Chairman, Hon. Chief Dr Martins Chukwunweike, represented by the State APC Organising Secretary, Hon. Engr. Onyi Odibe.
Others included Hon. Engr. Jude Chinedu Asogwa, represented by his Senior Political Adviser; the Mayor of Enugu North Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh, represented by his Senior Political Adviser; APC candidate and incoming Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Mike Ogbuekwe, popularly known as Miri Oma; guest speaker, Prof. Damian Ugwutikili Opata; Princess Ngozi Edith Ugwuanyi; and All Progressives Congress (APC) State Youth Leader, Hon. Peter Chime, popularly known as Cash.
The high point of the event was the presentation of the Award of Sterling Performance and Excellent Leadership to Egbo and other stakeholders and elected officials in the state.
Egbo, while receiving the award, thanked PEWEX for the recognition and urged its members to sustain support for initiatives they considered beneficial to the people of Enugu State.
