ENUGU, NIGERIA — Human capital development, workforce capacity building, and institutional collaboration took center stage as executive members of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) paid a strategic courtesy visit to MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) in Enugu.
Receiving the delegation at the company’s “Power House” headquarters, MEDL Managing Director, Dr. Ernest Mupwaya, declared that employees remain the organization’s most valuable asset in driving transformation within Nigeria’s power sector.
MainPower, a subsidiary of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) overseeing power distribution across Enugu State, reaffirmed that continuous investment in people is vital to achieving long-term operational success.
“People remain the most valuable asset of any institution,” Dr. Mupwaya stated. “Having competent, motivated, and adaptable employees—supported by effective human resource leadership and professional institutions such as CIPM—is critical to driving organizational transformation and contributing to national development.”
Dr. Mupwaya highlighted workforce quality, effective leadership, and corporate culture as critical success factors, expressing the company’s commitment to partnering with CIPM on leadership development, talent retention, and succession planning.
In his address, Chairman of CIPM Enugu State Branch, Mr. Francis Uka who was accompanied by Governing Council member Mr. Christian Onwumeremadu, noted that the institute engaged directly with administrative and operational staff to encourage professional certification and advance modern workplace standards across the region.
The high-level meeting featured key executives, including Head of Human Resources, Nkiru Chukwuma; Head of Health, Safety and Environment, Dr. Francis Iwu; Head of Customer Service, Ijeoma Ogudebe; Head of Communications, Mr. Emeka Ezeh; Managing Director of EastLand Electricity Distribution Limited, Engr. Nnamdi Chuka-Nwosu; and Chief Technical Officer, Engr. Obinna Nwachukwu.
