Otti Targets December Commissioning of Aba Bus Terminal
UMUAHIA — Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has said the ongoing Aba Bus Terminal will be ready for commissioning by the end of November or early December 2026.
Otti disclosed this when he received the management team of Planet Project, the construction company handling the Nnenna Otti Bus Terminal and other transport infrastructure projects in the state.
The team was led by the Managing Director of Planet Project, Engr. Biodun Otunola, at the Government House, Umuahia.
The governor commended Planet Project for the quality of work delivered at the Nnenna Otti Bus Terminal and said he expected the Aba terminal to be even better. “It will be very nice to commission it at the end of November or very early December for public use,” Otti said.
He also directed that the rooftops of the garages at both terminals be fitted with solar power systems to reduce reliance on public electricity.
Otti said residents, particularly private transport operators, were gradually adapting to the Nnenna Otti Terminal, attributing the development to growing confidence in the government.
He said security measures, including walk-through scanners, log-in scanners and restricted access through a single entry point, were being put in place.
He also directed that more personnel be deployed to ensure the terminal remains clean, while warning against vandalism, indiscipline and other acts capable of undermining public infrastructure.
The governor said instructions had been given for the protection of government transport assets and urged operators to maintain discipline and professionalism.

Earlier, Otunola said work on the Aba terminal was progressing and would be completed by the end of November.
He also reported that operations had commenced at the Nnenna Otti Terminal and requested additional external security ahead of increased patronage during the December period.
Otunola commended the opportunity given to Planet Project to deliver the terminal and traffic lights, describing the projects as evidence of the administration’s work in the state.
He said the pace of patronage at the Nnenna Otti Terminal, less than a month after operations began, reflected public confidence in the government.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Emmanuel Meribeole; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba; Principal Secretary and Chief Strategy Officer, Mr Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu; and other members of the State Executive Council.
