The Enugu State Chapter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Wing says it is strengthening grassroots mobilisation and political engagement to secure victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
The youth wing stated this on Monday in Enugu at the NDC Youth Inauguration and Leadership Summit, organised to inaugurate its leadership and equip members with knowledge of political engineering, grassroots mobilisation and voter education ahead of the elections.
Speaking at the event, the National Secretary of the NDC Youth Wing, Comrade Gideon Longlife, said youths had a critical role to play in determining the quality of leadership in the country.
Longlife stressed that without strategic mobilisation and active youth participation in the political process, the future of both society and the party could be undermined.
Representing the Enugu State Chairman of the NDC, Mr Ibuchukwu Obetta, the Leader of NDC Chairmen in the state, Mr Hilary Ogbonna, commended the Youth Wing for its energy, commitment and determination to strengthen the party at the grassroots.
Obetta said grassroots mobilisation remained the backbone of electoral victory, adding that youths, because of their strength, numerical advantage and reach across urban and rural communities, were strategically positioned to advance the party’s mandate.
In his keynote address, the Enugu State NDC Youth Wing Coordinator, Mr Ude Jideofor, thanked the state party executives, NDC candidates and members of the Youth Wing for their contributions to the success of the inauguration.
Jideofor described the summit as a strategic platform for preparing young party members for effective political participation and grassroots mobilisation.
“We, the youths, are ready to play a major role in NDC, especially in our state. This summit will ensure that our members have the right knowledge of political engineering to deliver NDC in 2027,” he said.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Enugu State NDC Youth Wing to supporting all NDC candidates in the state, promising that members would work across the 17 Local Government Areas to mobilise support for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The summit brought together members of the NDC Youth Wing National Leadership, Enugu State Party Executive, candidates and other stakeholders from the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
