The Enugu State Government has resumed its Continuous Survey Revalidation and Digitisation Exercise, aimed at strengthening the accuracy, transparency and reliability of land administration in the state.
The exercise, under the ongoing Survey Records Digitisation Programme, is expected to run until the end of August 2026 and forms part of the administration’s broader digital transformation agenda.
In a statement issued in Enugu, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Enugu State Geographic Information System Service (ENGIS), Chiwetalu Nwatu, said the exercise would help establish a fully digital, transparent and verifiable land administration framework.
Nwatu said landowners, estate developers, surveyors and other property owners were required to present their Survey Plans, Layout Approvals and other relevant land documents for verification and revalidation.
He said the documents would also be used for digital identity creation and geospatial mapping, as well as the issuance of Digital Land Identity Cards.
According to him, the initiative is designed to ensure that land and survey records are properly verified, digitally captured and geographically mapped, thereby strengthening the integrity of the state’s land administration system.
The government said the exercise would also help protect property rights, reduce disputes associated with lost or defective records and improve public confidence in land administration.
It urged all affected property owners and other stakeholders to take advantage of the exercise and submit their documents promptly.
The government initially announced six designated revalidation centres across the state: the ENGIS headquarters at No. 4 Chisimdi Ukpata Close, Ebeano Estate, Enugu; the Office of the Surveyor-General at 5/27 Colliery Avenue, GRA, Enugu; the headquarters of the Enugu State Housing Development Corporation at No. 21 Kingsway Road, GRA, Enugu; the Enugu State Ministry of Housing, State Secretariat, Enugu; the Nsukka Local Government Area Secretariat; and the Enugu East Local Government Area Secretariat at Nkwo Nike.
The state government said the participation of landowners and other stakeholders was essential to achieving accurate and comprehensive digital records.
“Full participation is essential for the success of this exercise and the protection of every genuine landowner’s interest,” the statement said.
