Nigerians dominated the 10-kilometre races. Gang Boyi, Davwi Gyany and Pam Joshua finished first, second and third respectively in the men’s event, while Patience Daylop, Vivien Obadiah and Favour Mwantiyi occupied the corresponding positions in the women’s race.

Presenting the prizes, Enugu State Deputy Governor, Ifeanyi Ossai, congratulated the athletes and said the state was committed to becoming a welcoming destination for residents, businesses, visitors and tourists.

He described the marathon as an indication of the government’s determination to position Enugu as a major destination for sports, tourism and investment.

Ossai said the state had, over the last three years, worked to restore Enugu’s position as a pivotal destination in the South-East and Nigeria.

He said the marathon demonstrated the government’s readiness to attract businesses, create opportunities for young people and expand the state’s tourism potential.

The deputy governor also pledged continued improvements in the organisation and standards of the marathon to enhance participants’ experience.

He urged the athletes to return for subsequent editions and encourage others to participate, while commending the sponsors and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the event.
