ENUGU — The Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, has described the Executive Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Caleb Onyema Ani, as a “Capacity Mayor.”
Onyia stated this on Tuesday while receiving Ani’s campaign train at Amechi East Ward 1 during the chairman’s ward-to-ward campaign tour of New Kenyatta Building Materials Market, New Garriki Cattle Market and Amechi East Ward 1.
The SSG, a son of Amechi East Ward 1 and card-carrying member of the APC, received the campaign team amid jubilation, cultural dances and chants of continuity.
Speaking as a member of the ward, Onyia said Gov. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah had listened to the voice of grassroots stakeholders before supporting Ani’s second-term bid because of his visible achievements.

He described Ani as humble, hardworking and people-focused, saying these qualities had contributed to his success.
Onyia also commended the team working with Ani, pledging that their loyalty and sacrifices would be compensated.
He said the team had held the chairman’s hands high when the going became tough and never allowed him to backslide.
According to him, Ani was succeeding because of the combined efforts of his team, adding that their labour would not go unrecognised.
The campaign organisation, led by its Director-General and APC Chairman in Enugu South LGA, Hon. Freedom Nnam, toured the three locations to solicit support for Ani’s second-term bid in the Sept. 26 Local Government election.
The tour attracted party leaders, market executives, traditional institutions, women and youth groups and other stakeholders, who declared total support and pledged 100 per cent votes for Ani and all APC candidates in Enugu South at the local government, state and federal levels.
At New Kenyatta Building Materials Market, the Vice Chairman, Mr. John Nwosu, and Market Coordinator, Mr. Sunday Nwonu, said traders had felt the impact of Ani’s people-oriented leadership and would repay him with their votes.

At New Garriki Cattle Market, the market leader, Alhaji Sariki, and Alhaji Ali Ahmed assured Ani that the Arewa community and other traders in Garriki were fully APC and would vote “from top to bottom” for the party on Sept. 26.
At Amechi East Ward 1, the Women Leader, Mrs. Agbo Benedet Ifeyinwa, declared that the ward’s women were 100 per cent behind Ani.
Also expressing support were Ward Chairman Mr. Paul Ogbodo Agbo, President-General of Amechi Mr. Paul Agbo, incoming Councillor Hon. Uchenna Nnaji and Triple Commissioner Hon. John Egbo.
Other prominent stakeholders included former Enugu South Executive Chairmen Barr. Sam Onyia and Hon. Monday Eneh; HRH Igwe John Omegaku Ngene; Supervisor for Finance Hon. Miracle Okafor; Hon. Ikechukwu Egbo; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Legal Matters Hon. Juliet Okonkwo; Leader of the Enugu South Legislative Council Hon. John Egbo; former Legislative Council Leader Hon. Joe Orji; Hon. Dave Agbo and Chief Emma Ugwu, JP.
Igwe Omegaku Ngene offered royal blessings during the blessing of the kola nut.
The stakeholders unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Ani, describing him as tested, accessible and performing, while pledging to mobilise massively for all APC candidates.
Ani, visibly elated by the turnout, thanked the people of New Kenyatta Building Materials Market, New Garriki Cattle Market and Amechi East Ward 1 for their love and unflinching support.
He thanked God for strength and good health, saying none of his achievements would have been possible without divine assistance.
Ani also commended Gov. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for what he described as unprecedented infrastructural transformation in Enugu South and Enugu State.
He said the state could now boast massive road construction, bridges linking communities, Type-2 Health Centres across wards, Smart Green Schools and other infrastructural developments which, according to him, had never before been seen in the LGA.
He urged the people to vote APC candidates from councillorship to chairmanship and from the State House of Assembly to the National Assembly to continue to key into the Governor’s disruptive innovation agenda.
Ani said a vote for him would amount to continuity of Mbah’s development efforts in Enugu South.
The rally ended with a unanimous voice vote of confidence in Ani and all APC candidates, as supporters danced and chanted, “No vacancy in Enugu South, 2+2 for Caleb Ani.”
The campaign organisation expressed optimism that the council area would overwhelmingly vote APC on Sept. 26.
