ENUGU — The campaign organisation of the Executive Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Hon. Dr Caleb Onyema Ani, on Wednesday intensified its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the September 26, 2026 Local Government election, taking its campaign train to Old Kenyatta Market, Ward 7 and Ward 9.
The campaign team, led by its Directors, Hon. Freedom Nnam and Hon. Paul Okechukwu Ogbe, visited the three locations to solicit support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates in the forthcoming elections. The campaign organisation said the exercise was part of its ongoing ward-to-ward mobilisation aimed at securing victory for the party.
The candidates being presented include Hon. Dr Caleb Onyema Ani for a second term as Executive Chairman of Enugu South LGA, alongside the party’s councillorship candidates. Others are Hon. Princess Obianuju Ugwu and Hon. Chijioke Mba, candidates for the Enugu South Urban and Enugu South Rural State Constituencies, respectively, as well as Hon. Chimaobi Atu and Hon. Kelvin Chukwu, candidates for the Federal House of Representatives.
At Old Kenyatta Market, the campaign team was received by the market leadership, including the Chairman, Hon. Chinwuba Igwesi; Vice Chairman, Mr Clifton Mgbeke; and Director of Socials and Enugu South Market Liaison Officer, Hon. Sunday Nwonu. The traders pledged their support for the Ani administration, describing it as business-friendly.
The campaign train subsequently moved to Ward 7, where proceedings began with a minute’s silence in honour of the late Women Leader, Hon. Eucheria Chime, who recently died.
The Ward Chairman, Hon. Nnaji Fidelis, led members of the ward executive in welcoming the campaign team, while Mrs Lilian Agbo led the opening prayer.
Those who addressed the gathering at Ward 7 included the Ward Leader, Hon. Paul Ogbe; APC State Organising Secretary, Hon. Onyii Odibe; Enugu South Supervisor for Education, Hon. Oguejiofor Nnamani; Chief Ejor; Hon. Ginika Nwosu; Hon. Grace Offia; former Chairperson of Ward 7, Hon. Ngozi Nwachukwu; former Chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area, Hon. Emeka Onunze, popularly known as Tata; incoming Councillor, Chijioke Emefesi; Chidi Udor, Amuzie Chinedu, Hon. Chidimma Offia and Sam Onovo.
They commended what they described as the performance of the APC administration led by Ani and declared their readiness to deliver Ward 7 for the party in the election.
At Ward 9, the campaign team was received amid traditional dances and masquerade displays, with residents turning out in large numbers to welcome the Chairman and his entourage. Ward 9 is also the ward of the Enugu South Women Leader, Hon. Nkem Nnamani.
Those who spoke at the Ward 9 rally included the Ward Chairman, Hon. Sunday Okoli; former Chairman, Ichie Mending; Chidera Ani Chukwu; Hon. Princess Obianuju Ugwu; and Hon. Nkem Nnamani. They reaffirmed what they described as the ward’s 100 per cent commitment to the APC and pledged to translate the support into votes.
Responding across the wards visited, Hon. Dr Caleb Onyema Ani thanked God for life and enablement and expressed appreciation to the people for their solidarity.
He highlighted completed and ongoing developmental projects undertaken by his administration in line with the development blueprint of the APC-led Enugu State Government under Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
Ani assured the people that a second term would consolidate the gains recorded by his administration and urged residents to come out in large numbers on September 26 to vote for APC candidates from the chairmanship and councillorship elections through the House of Assembly and Federal House of Representatives contests.
The campaign organisation said the ward-to-ward mobilisation would continue as the party seeks to strengthen its grassroots structures and secure support across Enugu South Local Government Area.
