Court Orders Release of Nnaji’s Passport

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the release of the international passport of former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, to enable him travel abroad for medical treatment.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik gave the order on Monday after an application filed by Nnaji’s counsel, Chief Ogwu Onoja, SAN, was moved before the court.

The judge also adjourned the case until October 26 for continuation of trial.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, had on July 13 arraigned Nnaji on a six-count charge bordering on alleged certificate forgery, false information and corruption. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The allegations include the purported use of forged National Youth Service Corps and University of Nigeria, Nsukka certificates during the documentation process for his ministerial appointment.

The ICPC also alleged that Nnaji received about 29.58 million naira in salaries and allowances between August 2023 and October 2025 while serving as minister, describing the payments as proceeds of alleged unlawful acts.

Nnaji has denied the allegations and remains entitled to the presumption of innocence as the case proceeds.
