Chukwuegbo Commends Mbah, Ani After Casting Ballot

Hon. Ofor Chukwuegbo, former member of the House of Representatives who represented Enugu North/South Federal Constituency, has commended Gov. Peter Mbah for providing what he described as a conducive environment for the peaceful conduct of the Enugu State local government election.

Chukwuegbo spoke shortly after casting his ballot at his polling unit in Amechi West Ward II, Enugu South Local Government Area, on Saturday, describing the peaceful participation of residents as encouraging and important to strengthening democracy at the grassroots.

He commended the electorate for their orderly conduct and urged voters, political parties and their supporters to sustain the calm atmosphere, respect the electoral process and avoid actions capable of disrupting the exercise.

Chukwuegbo said the local government election provided residents with an opportunity to participate directly in choosing leaders who would represent their interests at the grassroots.

He urged the people to remain peaceful throughout the exercise, stressing that political differences should not be allowed to create tension or division among communities.

“I commend Gov. Peter Mbah for providing the environment for our people to come out and participate peacefully in this election. This is what democracy should be about — allowing the people to exercise their franchise without fear or intimidation,” Chukwuegbo said.

He also appealed to the people of Enugu State to rally round Mbah ahead of the 2027 general election, saying continued support would enable the governor to consolidate his administration’s programmes and projects.

“I appeal to our people to rally round Gov. Peter Mbah and support his re-election in 2027. This will enable him to continue the work he has started and consolidate the programmes and projects of his administration,” he said.

On Enugu South Local Government Area, Chukwuegbo commended the Chairman, Dr Caleb Ani, for what he described as achievements recorded under his administration.

He described Ani as a unifier, saying his leadership had helped promote unity and development among the people of the council area.

“Dr Caleb Ani is a unifier. He has brought people together and has done well in Enugu South. His efforts in the council area are worthy of commendation,” Chukwuegbo said.

He added that Ani’s return for a second term would, in his view, provide an opportunity for the council chairman to consolidate the achievements already recorded and do more for the people.

“His return for a second term will enable him to consolidate the achievements recorded so far and continue to work for the development of Enugu South,” he said.

Chukwuegbo urged residents of Enugu South to sustain the peaceful atmosphere witnessed during the election and continue to participate actively in the democratic process.
