Enugu CP, PRO Win Security Awards

ENUGU— The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, CP Mamman Giwa, has received the 2025 Best Crime Busting Police Chief in West Africa award, while the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Daniel Ndukwe, received the Best Police Public Relations Officer in Nigeria award.

The awards were presented on Sunday at the Enugu State Police Command Headquarters, GRA, Enugu, by the Security Watch Africa Initiatives (SWAI) Network, organisers of the annual Africa Security Watch Conference and Awards.

Presenting the awards, the International Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of SWAI, Mr. Patrick Agbambu, said the recipients were selected after a review of their respective policing antecedents and professional contributions in Enugu State.

Agbambu urged Giwa to sustain his proactive approach to crime prevention and combating, while encouraging Ndukwe to maintain his strategic and effective police-public relations activities.

The awards followed the 19th Africa Security Watch Conference and Awards, held in July 2026 at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre, Banjul, The Gambia.

The annual Africa Security Watch Conference and Awards, organised by SWAI, brings together security professionals, policymakers and other stakeholders from across Africa and recognises individuals and institutions for outstanding contributions to security, governance, public service and societal development.

Responding to the honour, Giwa expressed appreciation to the organisers for the recognition.

He attributed his achievements in Enugu State to Almighty God and the support of the state government, law-abiding citizens and other stakeholders.

Ndukwe also appreciated the organisers for the award and dedicated the honour to Almighty God, CP Giwa and the people of Enugu State for their continued support.

The presentation in Enugu is consistent with the practice of SWAI presenting some of its continental awards to recipients at their respective duty posts after the main conference and awards ceremony.

For instance, the organisation presented the Most Outstanding Anti-Crime Police Chief in West and Central Africa for 2025 award to AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh at the Zone 2 Police Headquarters in Lagos in July.

The 19th Africa Security Watch Conference and Awards in Banjul was opened by The Gambia’s Minister of Interior, Abdoulie Sanyang, who called for stronger African cooperation to address terrorism, organised crime, cybercrime and other emerging security threats.
