ENUGU — The re-election campaign of the Executive Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Dr. Caleb Ani, on Monday visited Political Wards 4 and 5 as part of efforts to mobilise support ahead of the Sept. 26 local government election.
The campaign train visited Ngwo Park in Ward 4 and Awkuzu Junction in Ward 5, where party faithful, stakeholders, youth and women groups, as well as residents, turned out to receive the campaign team.
The campaign was led by the Director-General of the Caleb Onyema Ani Campaign Organisation and Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu South LGA, Hon. Freedom Nnam.
Speaking at the engagements in the two wards, Nnam introduced Ani to the electorate as a performing and people-oriented chairman and appealed to them to support his bid for a second term at the Sept. 26 poll.
Nnam also solicited support for all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections in the state, including Gov. Peter Mbah, Sen. Kevin Chukwu, representing Enugu East Senatorial District, and the party’s House of Representatives and State House of Assembly candidates.
The House of Representatives candidate mentioned was Hon. Chimaobi Atu, while the State House of Assembly candidates were Hon. Chijioke Mba and Hon. Princess Obiajulu Ugwu.
He urged voters to support the APC candidates and work towards the party’s victory from the top to the bottom of the ballot.
Responding at the engagements, Ani expressed gratitude to God and thanked Gov. Peter Mbah for what he described as the enabling environment and support that had allowed his administration to deliver on its mandate at the grassroots.
Ani highlighted what he described as the distribution of dividends of democracy across Enugu South under his administration.
He appealed to the people of Wards 4 and 5 to come out en masse on election day and vote for him and the ward councillors to consolidate the gains recorded by his administration.
The campaign visits featured solidarity speeches by Hon. Jude Nwamba and Hon. Obinna Okenwa of Ward 4; the APC State Woman Leader, Hon. Esther Ede; former Deputy Mayor of Enugu South LGA, Hon. Sandra Akuabata Onyia; Hon. Francis Ani of Ward 5; the Co-Campaign Director, Hon. Paul Ogbe, and others.
At Ngwo Park in Ward 4, the campaign entourage was received by stakeholders and party members led by the Ward Chairman, Hon. Emeka Nwobodo, and the Ward Women Leader, Hon. Juliet Nnaji.
At Awkuzu Junction in Ward 5, stakeholders and party members were led by the Ward Chairman, Hon. Chijioke Enekwechi, and the Ward Women Leader, Hon. Chinyere Akunno, who received the campaign team amid songs and chants of support.
In separate remarks, leaders and members of the two wards commended Ani, Nnam and the campaign team for what they described as purposeful leadership and the spread of development projects across the local government area.
They also called for greater inclusion in governance and empowerment programmes.
The leaders and members pledged their support for Ani and all APC candidates in the forthcoming local government and general elections.
The campaign team assured the wards that their support would be followed by more projects, greater inclusion and sustained people-centred governance.
Ani’s campaign activities in Enugu South are part of the wider APC mobilisation for the council elections, with the party intensifying grassroots engagements across the state.
