ENUGU — Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has approved the appointment of 680 persons to fill existing vacancies across 68 Development Centres in the state.
The appointments, according to a statement signed by the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, and made available in Enugu on Tuesday, are aimed at strengthening grassroots participation in governance and decision-making.
The statement said the appointments would promote inclusivity and broad-based representation, provide communities with effective channels for contributing to government programmes and policies, and further deepen the reach of government at the local level.
It added that the appointments were also designed to improve coordination of grassroots development initiatives, promote greater community engagement and responsiveness, and ensure that the administration’s development agenda was implemented with meaningful participation from communities.
The statement said the appointees were expected to bring their experience, commitment and understanding of their respective communities to bear on their responsibilities while working with relevant government institutions and stakeholders to advance the development objectives of the state.
