ENUGU — The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate in Enugu State, Chinyeaka Ohaa, says the party’s structures across the state remain intact, active and committed to his candidacy and that of its presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi.
Ohaa’s Media Aide, Sampson Ukwu, stated this in a statement issued in Enugu on Saturday in reaction to an alleged claim by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that NDC structures across the 260 wards in the state had collapsed to the PDP in support of Chief Uche Nnaji.
Ukwu described the claim as false, baseless and misleading, insisting that no mass defection or collapse of NDC structures had occurred in the state.
He alleged that the PDP and APC were reacting to what he described as growing grassroots acceptance of the NDC, Ohaa and other party candidates in Enugu.
Ukwu accused the parties of resorting to attacks, blackmail and fabricated reports rather than issue-based political engagement.
He urged the APC and PDP to embrace politics based on principles, ideas and issues, saying the people of Enugu were capable of assessing competing political claims.
Ukwu said Ohaa, Obi and other NDC candidates remained focused and united, adding that the party would continue engaging the electorate on competence, integrity and service.
He stated that the 2027 election should be about the competence of candidates rather than political parties.
