ABUJA — The Member of Parliament for Salaga South Constituency in Ghana, Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has called for stronger action to bridge the gender gap in leadership and promote greater inclusion of women and young people.
Ibrahimah made the call while participating in the 2026 Gender and Inclusion Summit, GS-26, held in Abuja from Sept. 8 to Sept. 9.
The summit, organised by the Policy Innovation Centre, was held under the theme: “From Agenda to Action: Making Innovations Count for the Last Mile.”
The summit brought together women leaders, youth advocates, policymakers, innovators, development practitioners and other stakeholders to examine ways of translating discussions and commitments on gender and social inclusion into practical outcomes.
As leader of the Ghanaian parliamentary delegation to the summit, Ibrahimah said the gathering provided an opportunity for participants to share ideas and perspectives on advancing gender equality and increasing women’s participation in leadership.
She expressed hope that the discussions and commitments generated at the summit would translate into meaningful action, particularly in creating greater opportunities for women and young people to participate in leadership and decision-making.
Ibrahimah, who is also Vice-Chairperson of Ghana’s Parliamentary Committee on Gender, Children and Social Welfare, concluded by praying for the success of efforts aimed at achieving greater gender inclusion and equality in leadership. Ghana’s Parliament lists her as the MP for Salaga South and vice-chairperson of the committee.
The focus of GS-26 on moving from agenda-setting to implementation is consistent with the summit’s stated objective of ensuring that policies, innovations and commitments produce measurable impact, particularly for people facing barriers to opportunities and essential services.
