SALAGA— The Member of Parliament for Salaga-South Constituency, Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has urged National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch executives and members to remain united and committed to strengthening the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Ibrahimah made the call during a three-day tour of electoral areas in the constituency where she engaged party executives and members following the recent NDC branch reorganisation.
The tour covered eight electoral areas — Sisipe, Kpembe, Konkomba, Dagbaline, Kuka, Nfabaso, Machera and Ngua Alhaji — across the Kpembe, Salaga and Konkomba wards.
The MP said the engagement was also intended to thank branch executives and party members for their support and cooperation during the reorganisation exercise.
She described the exercise as peaceful and well coordinated, commending members for embracing consensus-building, which she said enabled several branches to reach agreements without elections.
Ibrahimah assured the branch executives of her continued support and urged them to deepen unity and commitment to make the NDC stronger, more attractive and more formidable ahead of the 2028 elections.
The Constituency Chairman, Mr Haruna Abdul Aziz, also commended the branch executives for their maturity and cooperation during the reorganisation.
Abdul Aziz urged them to remain patient and continue supporting the party, saying some members had already benefited from the NDC government while further opportunities were expected.
He also appealed to the executives to work closely with Ibrahimah and support the government of President John Dramani Mahama to attract more development to the constituency.
At Sisipe, the Branch Chairman, Alhaji Iddrisu Abubakar, thanked Ibrahimah for the engagement and commended her leadership.
Abubakar assured the MP that party members were working to secure the Sisipe polling station for the NDC in the 2028 elections.
He, however, appealed to Ibrahimah to provide guidance on identifying committed and loyal party members to contest forthcoming constituency executive elections, saying this would help produce executives capable of working effectively with the MP and strengthening the party at the grassroots.
Similarly, the Branch Chairman at Kpembe L/A Primary, Mr Alaja Sulemana Osman, commended the MP for engaging branch executives after the reorganisation.
Osman said the engagement would strengthen unity and boost the confidence of party members at the grassroots.
The meetings also provided opportunities for branch executives to raise challenges affecting the party and its grassroots structures directly with the MP and constituency leadership.
The party leadership and branch executives agreed to work together towards building a stronger, united and attractive NDC capable of securing victory in the 2028 general elections.
Ibrahimah said the engagement would continue, with plans to extend the tour to electoral areas in Kafaba, Makango and Kulaw wards.
