President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after a four-week working vacation in Europe, arriving at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Tuesday evening.
The presidential aircraft landed at about 6:22 p.m., according to reports by Channels Television. Tinubu had departed Nigeria on August 30 and spent most of his stay in London and Paris.
The Presidency said the President remained in touch with developments in Nigeria and continued to direct government affairs while abroad. In Paris, he held engagements with French President Emmanuel Macron and met Bolloré Group Chairman Vincent Bolloré over investments in Nigeria’s creative and digital economy.
Tinubu also witnessed the signing of an agreement between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the development of the Gateway Deep Sea Port and Ogun State Blue Marine Special Economic Zone, valued at more than seven billion dollars.
His extended absence generated political controversy, with opposition figures questioning its constitutional implications under Section 145. The Presidency, however, maintained that the President was on a working vacation and remained fully in charge of government.
Tinubu is expected to participate in activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, including the national premiere of MKO, a documentary on the life and political legacy of the late Moshood Abiola, at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Lagos.
