Anambra CP Queries DPO, Orders Probe Into Missing Armed Robbery Suspect

The Anambra State Police Command has ordered an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of an armed robbery suspect who was reportedly arrested and taken to the 3-3 Police Station.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, gave the order on Monday, October 5, 2026, after personally questioning the complainant and police officers linked to the case. The CP directed that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the station and a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) be issued queries, while disciplinary proceedings should commence against an Inspector allegedly connected to the matter. The decision followed a viral video alleging that the suspect, after being brought to the station, could no longer be accounted for.

CP Nnanna ordered the Command’s X-Squad to establish what happened, including how the suspect was arrested, documented, detained and how he subsequently went missing. He said the allegation was serious and capable of damaging public confidence in the Police, stressing that officers found to have breached professional standards would be held accountable. The Commissioner also said measures had been put in place to facilitate the suspect’s arrest, while urging the public to avoid circulating unverified information that could interfere with the investigation.

He assured the public that the outcome of the investigation would be made known once the facts had been established.

The statement was issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on October 6.
