Enugu — The Retired Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, has urged Nigerians to intensify prayers for the country in the coming years.
Chukwuma made the call in his message to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, expressing concern over what he described as bad governance and insecurity in the country.
The cleric also urged political leaders to put the welfare of citizens above personal interests and desist from selfish and corrupt practices.
He said: “As Nigeria celebrates 66 years of independence, Nigerians should intensify their prayers for the nation in the coming years.
“We need God’s intervention in the affairs of the country, especially in view of the challenges of bad governance and insecurity.”
Chukwuma further urged Nigerians to pray for peaceful and credible elections, saying political leaders should place the interests of the people above their personal ambitions.
He called for collective efforts toward building a peaceful, secure and prosperous Nigeria.
